Huge congratulations to our Amashova Early Bird winner!! Jane Snyman won the early bird prize of an awesome holiday for two at Elephant Rock Private Safari Lodge. Her husband Dave will be enjoying the prize with her. Pic below of the happy winners Dave and Jane Snyman!

Enter the Amashova and you could win this awesome prize at final prize giving on race day - remember to tear off the bottom of your race number and place it in the lucky draw box. You could be the lucky winner of an awesome holiday for two sponsored by Elephant Rock Private Safari Lodge which is located in the Big 5 Nambiti Game Reserve. The prize includes a 2 night stay for 2 adults at Elephant Rock Private Safari Lodge which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, teas and coffees plus 2 game drives per day valued at over R8 000.

Superbly sited overlooking a waterhole, Elephant Rock Private Safari Lodge is a charming boutique lodge offering luxury accommodation for up to 10 people. Elephant Rock lies within the Nambiti Conservancy 25 km's east of Ladysmith and is 2½ hours from Durban, 40 minutes from the Drakensberg and 3 ½ hours from Johannesburg.

The Lodge has five suites, including one family unit. All suites are well spaced for total privacy, with wonderful panoramic views of the waterhole and conservancy beyond. All have en-suite bathrooms with wonderful oval baths and picture windows, plus outdoor showers, allowing you to feel like you are immersed in the bushveld.

Elephant Rock is unlike other luxury safari destinations and welcomes families with children of all ages. The property is fenced from the wild. Your children will have the excitement of hearing the wild at night but not meeting them in the lodge!

There is plenty to do, but you may be tempted to simply enjoy the magnificent viewing deck, relax whilst viewing the many species of game and birdlife or, in summer, just cool off in the pool.

However, bird life abounds with over 250 recorded species in the 10 000 hectare Nambiti Private Game Reserve on which Elephant Rock is situated and game viewing is normally extremely rewarding- what with the Big Five and other game plentiful and roaming freely. This makes it worthwhile rising to a steaming cuppa and early morning snack to catch the early activity at the waterhole from the deck, before departing on a 6am game drive with an extremely knowledgeable ranger to spot the foraging animals before the heat of the sun forces them back into the undergrowth.

Elephant Rock is a popular stop-off for history buffs, being in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal battlefield country, including Rorke's Drift, Isandlwana, Elandslaagte and Ladysmith.
